JCM MED Safety Intravenous Cannulas / Catheters allow the introduction or withdrawal of fluids from the human circulatory system.
JCM MED offers 3 Safety models in order to meet different market requirements and make it compliant with EU Directive 2010/32/EU on the prevention of sharp injuries in hospitals and healthcare settings.
The safety IV cannula TIPSAFE® is a passive safety device that provides a needle-tip protection through a metallic clip that self-activates during needle withdrawal. Meant to avoid needlestick injuries, this device can be provided with or without wings and port.
The Safe In ™ Safety IV cannula with catheter without injection valve, without wings is a passive safety IV cannula meant to provide peripheral intravenous access with anti-needle-stick prevention feature that eliminates the risk of accidental needle-stick injury to the patient and/or healthcare professionals during use of this device.
The safety IV cannula I.V.SAFE™ is an active safety device meant to withdraw the needle semi-automatically by pressing a knob that sends it into a rigid chamber where it remains enclosed.
Fully enclosing the needle avoids:
- Needle-stick injuries, potentially responsible for disease transmission (Hepatitis, H.I.V, etc.).
- Needle breakage during disposal which can turn a tip-protected needle potentially harmful again.
- Direct contact with blood-stained needles which are only tip-protected.
JCM MED standard Safety IV cannula is a Passive protection device with needle tip enclosure to avoid needle stick injuries.
